About Joge L. Aliò, MD PhD

Prof. Dr  Jorge Alio MD, PhD, FEBO is Professor and Chairman of Ophthalmology, at the  University Miguel Hernandez de Elche, Alicante, Spain, founder of Vissum Corporation, Spain and the Jorge Alió Foundation for the Prevention of Blindness.

He is the creator and Director of the first online course in refractive surgery from the Miguel Hernandez University, Scientific Methodology in Refractive, Cataract and Cornea Surgery.

He is a high-volume surgeon in cataract and refractive surgery also operating glaucoma and corneal transplants with over 45,000 surgeries performed.

Prof Alio’s main research interests include lens, refractive and corneal surgery, ocular inflammation, and preventative ophthalmology. Creator of the concept of Microinicisional Cataract Surgery (MICS) he has been a pioneer in the area of multifocal, accommodative and toric IOLs and excimer laser refractive surgery and phakic IOLs.

Author or co-author of over 538 peer review papers, 363 book chapters, 92 books (editor or co-editor), he and his team are extremely active at congresses with lectures and courses.He has received over 103 international and national awards.
