Me-Check is a useful instrument in dry eye syndrome screening; it evaluates meibomian glands disfunction and area of loss.
It’s mounted on a slit lamp.
Patient has to put his forehead and chin on the supports of the slit lamp then the operator turns outside the inner surface of lower eyelid using a cotton fioc and, after focusing the image, he can take the picture of meibomian glands.
After the examination the patient has to answer a questionnaire about the level of dry eye and about symptoms the patient feels during the day.
Both, test on glands and questionnaire, help to estabilish dry eye syndrome level in a range from 1 to 4.
