Lipiview is a device that allows to measure and archive tear film pictures.
The instrument function is based on white light interferometry principle and supplies a measurement of the thickness of the tear film lipid layer, which main function is to delay and prevent tear evaporation.
Patient has to look at a chessboard-like white light; after careful focusing, the light passes by the tear film and it’s reflected specularly in the video camera creating an interference sequence.
During the acquisition, the patient is asked to blink normally, without squeezing.
Test analysis supplies a diagram showing the changes of lipid layer check after check and recognizes incomplete blinking too.
The instrument is a valid diagnostic support in choosing the best treatment ant it’s useful in follow up too.
